The Ivace (Valencian Institute of Business Competitiveness) supports with 15 million euros the cooperation between technology institutes and companies of the Region

The Valencian Institute of Business Competitiveness (Ivace) has called for grants to support cooperation between technology centres and companies in the Region in the development of non-economic research and technological development projects.

The call, co-financed with ERDF funds, has an initial budget of 15 million euros to support the generation of knowledge and technology of high added value and facilitate the transfer and application of results to all productive sectors.

The general director of the Ivace, Júlia Company, said that "the collaboration of companies is essential to ensure that research projects respond to the needs of different sectors, thus increasing the possibilities of applying the results in companies in the Region".

This will responds to the commitment made by the Regional Minister of Economy, Rafa Climent, to transform the productive model of the Region through an innovation system aimed at achieving maximum results in the area of the productive economy.

"In this sense, -said the head of the Ivace- the role of technological institutes is fundamental. We have a solid network of technology centres, with enormous research potential from which we must make the most of and which, from the Regional Ministry of Economy and the Ivace, we will give the necessary tools to continue to be a national reference".

Proof of this is that, in 2018, the Ivace has budgeted a total of 38 million euros to support the research activity of technology centres, which is 34.5% more than in the previous year.

This amount comes from the Generalitat's own funds and funds co-financed by the European Union.

The deadline for submitting applications begins on 19 February and ends on 28 February.

147 collaborative projects funded in 2018

Last year, the Valencian Institute of Business Competitiveness supported with more than 22 million euros a total of 147 research projects developed by technology institutes in collaboration with companies in the Region.

Each of the projects was financed with around 150,000 euros on average and more than 800 companies are collaborating in its overall development, in activities ranging from the analysis of needs, the definition of projects, their development and implementation as well as in activities for the transfer and promotion of the results obtained.

The 147 projects supported are aligned with the lines of action set out in the Smart Specialisation Strategy for the Comunitat Valenciana (RIS3-CV).
